Commercial Sales Co-ordinator

Tell us about your current role at Plumbing World – what is it that you do and what does your typical day look like? My focus is to provide Price Proposals to customers for any tender or project they may be working on. Which could be a simple Retail shop right through to a new Hospital or subdivision of Townhouses. I work with a wide variety of people within our business and industry. The work can be as straight forward as pricing items straight off of a specification, to having no specification and putting together a presentation of a schedule according to the customer’s vision. I work a lot not only with the branches but also with the Sales Reps, Area Manager and Sales Manager. My typical day is a day full of all sorts and I love it. What is your favourite part of your role? The people! I am fortunate to be part of an amazing team within Commercial, but also Plumbing World as a whole. Being able to build connections and relationships with both staff and customers is definitely a highlight. What advice do you have for someone who wants to do a similar role to you? I would say Time Management skills would be essential for this role. You never know what will get thrown at you. Sometimes you will have many jobs on the go at any one time. Never be scared to ask your team mates for help, it can get very busy. Tell us about your career in Plumbing World: I have been with Plumbing World for 17 years. I was virtually straight out of school when I came to do a stocktake to help the Manager out. The Clerk at the time had just left so the Manager asked if I could help out with some paperwork, in the end they decided to keep me on – 17 years later I’m still here! I ended up looking after the 3 biggest commercial customers in the branch, so they changed my title to Sales Co-ordinator. Over a period of time, Plumbing World did some more work to develop the Commercial Team. I was already doing Commercial work with my customers anyway, so it made sense to apply for the Commercial Sales Co-ordinator role that I’m in today. Why do you love working at Plumbing World? I am very grateful to Plumbing World for a number of reasons. Being a full time working mum to a very busy young boy, they have allowed me flexibility in times of need. I’ve been lucky enough to be a NZ Representative for Indoor Netball a few times and Plumbing World has always supported me with the time off. We have a great team of people here and the atmosphere that is created is pretty cool.
