Tell us about your current role at Plumbing World – what is it that you do and what does your typical day look like? I manage one of our key accounts at the North Shore branch, Bassett Plumbing & Drainage LTD. I’m their first point of contact for anything and everything. I also work closely with our Auckland Projects Sales Rep, Commercial Team, Branch Inventory Controllers and Suppliers. A typical day for me starts with a strong cup of coffee on arrival and I usually help out at the counter when it’s busy in the morning. It gives me the opportunity to chat to our other customers. After that it’s usually 8am, I’m on my second coffee, I open my emails and so the day begins. Send out, organise and co-ordinate orders and deliveries throughout Auckland with branches and suppliers. Pick out my day to day orders for delivery at our branch as well as any project (aka: procurement) orders. Quoting. Queries. Answer calls. Go to site if needed. Not every day is the same - that’s what keeps things interesting and keeps that challenge going! What is your favourite part of your role? The constant challenge and the rush of winning a new project! What advice do you have for someone who wants to do a similar role to you? It’s a fast paced job and prioritising, time management, multitasking and being detailed is extremely important. Get a system that works for you. For me, it’s a notebook, pin board as well as reminders that pop up on my emails. Be open for change and finding ways to make things happen for your customers! Tell us about your career in Plumbing World: I’ve been with Plumbing World going on 3 years now. I started out as Trade Sales at our Grey Lynn branch, which is ideal for someone that didn’t have any plumbing back ground. I got promoted to Sales Co-Ordinator 6 months later and transferred to the North Shore branch in Nov 2015. Why do you love working at Plumbing World? The people and customers!
