Branch Inventory Controller

Tell us about your current role at Plumbing World – what is it that you do and what does your typical day look like?  Taupo is a small branch that consists of only 3 people. We are a tight team and work closely with each other to ensure a smooth running of the branch. I am the Branch Inventory Controller, a role which I have been in now for 2.5years. Initially I spent my days ensuring we had sufficient quantities of products on the shelf, serving Plumbers/Tradies and retail customers in our trade area. Given the changes in the branch over that time, I now spend most of my time quoting retail customers in the showroom and dealing with housing groups. What is your favourite part of your role? The diversity of the role is what I enjoy the most. The relationships that I have built with retail customers and tradies during my time here have been pretty awesome. I enjoy recommending front of wall products with customers and seeing everything fall into place at the end of their build or renovation project. It’s always an exciting time for the customer and it’s pretty cool that we get to be a part of it. What advice do you have for someone who wants to do a similar role to you? Don’t be put off by the vast amount of different products, brochures, suppliers etc. Things fall into place pretty quickly and before you know it you will be answering questions you didn’t even think you knew the answers to. Tell us about your career in Plumbing World: I have been with Plumbing World for 2.5years now during my time here I spent 6 months as Acting Branch Manager while we transitioned from one Branch Manager to the next, which was challenging but very rewarding. I have built up both my behind wall and front of wall product knowledge and gained an appreciation for how these all go together. Why do you love working at Plumbing World? It’s a challenging role with no day the same. The customers both tradies and retail, I have met and built relationships has to be the best part of the job. The kickback of one compliment or comment to someone else from a previous customer generates huge business and you really get to feel the genuine appreciation.
